Steven Ray Heim was both on January 9, 1957 to Marvin Heim and Joyce Brothers in Watertown, South Dakota. He was raised on the family farm in rural Clark, S.D. As a young boy, he loved everything about the farm, especially his dog and pony; however, due to allergies and "everything," the farm was not the place for Steve.
The family moved in to the town of Clark, and Steve adapted quickly. He had a paper route, mowed lawns and shoveled sidewalks. In high school, Steve worked for Bockoven Drug and Don Doyen.
Steve was always in search of the next adventure, so after graduation he moved to Minneapolis, Minn., where he worked for several years at Cole Sewell. Steve never met stranger, and somewhere along the way, a job opportunity arose in Sioux Falls, S.D., so he made the move. While there, he worked for Midwest Coast Truck Line, first as a driver and later as a dispatcher. He decided office work wasn't for him, so he bought his own "big rig" and hit the road! He was carefree and happy-go-lucky! He never got over his quest for fun and new experiences!
During these last years, in the warmer months, Steve continued to drive his "Harley Davidson orange" truck for Mike Cotton out of Volga. He headed to San Juan, Texas before the snow flew.
Steve died on August 25, 2026 due to a severe brain injury sustained in a fall.
Steve will be remembered and missed by his children, Tyler and Brittany (Ash); his parents, Roy and Joyce Brothers; sisters Lorene Wasland and Denise (Steve) Meier; nephews, nieces and all of his many friends across the United States, especially those lived near in both South Dakota and Texas.
He is preceded in death by his father, Marvin Heim; grandparents; and brother-in-law Larry Wasland.
