Sharon Ellis, 78 of Watertown, passed away on August 18, 2026 in Watertown.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 to 7:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 23, 2026 at the Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Sharon Ellen (VanSickle) Ellis was born on January 28, 1948 in Watertown, S.D. to Morris and Eleanor (Clarksean) VanSickle. She grew up and attended school in Henry. Sharon went on to receive a teaching degree from Northern State University in Aberdeen. She also attended Mount Marty College.
On September 18, 1971, Sharon married Ernest Ellis at St. Henry's Catholic Church. The couple lived in Watertown where they raised their two children.
Sharon made a career as a teacher in South Shore. She loved flowers and enjoyed a good shopping trip. For many years, Sharon was a member of the Mothers of Police Officers organization. She took great pride in supporting her children and grandchildren and especially enjoyed attending their many sporting events. Whether cheering from the stands or simply spending time with her family, she treasured every moment with those she loved.
She was a devoted mother, grandmother, teacher and friend who cherished her family deeply. Sharon will be remembered for her love of family, her kind heart and the many lives she touched throughout her 78 years.
Left to cherish Sharon's life are her son, Kirk (Haley) Ellis of Watertown; daughter Christina (Patrick) Brandon of Jefferson; and five grandchildren, Kali, Triton and Ashton Ellis and Logan and Audrie Brandon.
She is preceded in death by her husband, Ernest; and her parents.
