Janice Ellen (Kangas) Efraimson was born on September 27, 1941 in Estelline, S.D. to Ernest and Ellen (Paso) Kangas. She married John Wesley Efraimson on September 11, 1960. She moved to her heavenly home on October 12, 2025.
A funeral service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Wednesday, October 15, 2025 at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Lake Norden. A visitation was held on Tuesday, October 14, 2025 from 6:00 P.M. to 7:30 P.M. at the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church in Bryant. Interment will take place at the Apostolic Lutheran Cemetery in rural Lake Norden.
Janice grew up in rural Lake Norden, attending Cleveland 4 and graduated from Lake Norden High School in 1959. She attended and received her Licensed Practical Nursing degree in Mitchell in 1960 and worked as a nurse in various positions, lastly at the Bryant Parkview Care Center. Janice and Wesley made their home in rural Bryant, where they farmed and had an electrical business. She resided in the Bryant Parkview Assisted Living for the past six years.
Janice was a faithful and devoted wife, mother and grandmother. She was a member of the Old Apostolic Lutheran Church, and here in the Living Christianity, she found a place of shelter and refuge and faithfully served others alongside her husband.
She is survived by her five sons: Timothy (Jill) of Atlantic Mine, Mich.; Wayne (Marcyne) of Lake Norden; Jeffery (Vigdis) of Willow Lake; Clinton (Brenda) of Bryant; and Brandon (Savanah) of DeSmet; her five daughters: Grace (Kevin) Kopman of Lake Norden; Rebecca (Aaron) Ek of Willow Lake; Carrie (Michael) Erickson of Calumet, Mich.; Nancy (Duane) Levanen of Bryant; and Rose (Fred) Pekkala of Bryant; her three brothers: David (Faith) Kangas of Brush Prairie, Wash.; Alvin (Mary) Kangas of Lake Norden; Gordon (Delores) Kangas of Lake Norden; and her three sisters: Marie Koistinen of Lake Norden; Charlotte (George) Petersen of Battle Ground, Wash.; Genevieve (David) Halme of Battle Ground, Wash.; sister-in-law Yvonne Kangas of Davenport, Wash.; and a host of grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Wesley, her parents and her brother, Dennis Kangas.
