Introduction
Welcome to my corner! Last week, I introduced you to Inktober. Now, for the rest of October, I'll be sharing my Inktober creations with you. I hope it inspires you to create as well! It's finally Spooky Season!
I want you to participated in Inktober too! Anyone can do it, young and old! And, guess what? Our top three favorite Inktober subscriber submissions will each get $10.00 and free candy! (Because of course, it's Halloween!) They'll also be published in the November 6 edition of the Clark County Courier.

(Website) Inktober rules:
1) Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want).
2) Post it**
3) Hashtag it with #inktober and #inktober2024
4) Repeat
Note: you can do it daily, or go the half-marathon route and post every other day, or just do the 5K and post once a week. What ever you decide, just be consistent with it. Inktober is about growing and improving and forming positive habits, so the more you're consistent the better.
That's it! Now, go make something beautiful!
**Post it on any social media account you want or just post it on your refrigerator. The point is to share your art with someone.
If we get enough submissions, I'll open it up to voting in office and online! So, please participate! We'd all love to see your art! Submit them through Facebook (either tag us @ Clark County Courier or send them to us through a message), email them to us (clarkcountycourier@gmail.com) or drop them off with us at our office!
Now, get to work! And, good luck to all of you!
Without further ado, here are my creations for Inktober 2024 Days 1 & 2.
Inktober 2024

Day 1, Back Pack: I won't lie; this year's Inktober prompts don't inspire me as much as they could. Most of them seem to be focused on travel and adventure, which I don't do much of. Because of this, it took me awhile to figure out what I wanted to create from the prompts.
At first, I was just going to draw a cutesy backpack that you might see an elementary student using, but I stopped about halfway through because I wasn't happy with it. If I was going to share these creations with everyone through my column, I wanted them to mean something or have a piece of me.
So, looking for inspiration, I went to the internet! All I saw were pictures of ordinary backpacks...no inspiration for me. My head slumped thinking I had been defeated. Then, I looked up and saw one of my five cats (yes, I am a crazy cat lady).
I went back to my cutesy backpack idea. I was going to create a backpack that looked like a kitty cat. Again, I went to the internet to get ideas for how to do that. That was when Google showed me those awesome backpacks made for cat owners. The backpacks are made for traveling with cats. There's a window that the cat can see out of and people can see into. Finally! This is what I had been looking for!
That's how I ended up creating a traveling cat backpack for Day 1 of Inktober.

Day 2, Discover: This one doesn't have as long of a backstory as the last one. As hard of a time I had with inspiration for Day 1, I had double the trouble with Day 2.
I tried going to the internet for inspiration, but when I searched discover on Google for images, all I got was pictures of credit cards. Darn!
After enough scrolling, I finally found a few images that weren't credit cards. eventually I landed on drawing a magnifying glass.
I feel pretty rusty when it comes to drawing anymore. I never feel like I have time to do it. I'm hoping I'll see more improvement in my rusty skills as the month goes by. But for now, that's it!
Please share your Inktober creations with us! Tell us how and why you created what you did. Submit them through Facebook (either tag us @Clark County Courier or send them to us through a message), email them to us (clarkcountycourier@gmail.com) or drop them off with us at our office! Come back next week for the next seven days worth of art!
