Donald Hoefert, 74 of Watertown, died August 4, 2025 at his residence. Funeral services were at 11:00 A.M., Monday, August 11, 2025 with visitation one hour prior to the service at Cornerstone Church in Watertown. Interment was at Mt. Hope Cemetery in Watertown.
Honorary Urnbearers were Madilyn Steen, Macy Steen, Devon Snyder, Jakob Steen, Arianna Snyder, Jaxson Drury, Harper Werdel, Mason Redlinger, Max Redlinger, Kamden Werdel, Willow Werdel, Evelyn Drury and Maverick Drury.
Donald was born on September 3, 1950 to Dr. K.L. Hoefert and Laura Naomi Sentman in Grinnell, Iowa.
Don attended Iowa State University, where he earned a bachelor's degree. He married Colleen Mary O'Neill on December 14, 2002. together, they blended their families, which included Don's daughters Elizabeth and Kristin (from a previous union with Tammy Hoefert) and Colleen's four daughters Kylie, Lisa, Angie and Krista.
He worked as a Store Manager of Kmart and retired after 37 years.
Don found a great joy in his garden, meticulously tending it and generously sharing his harvest wit family and friends. Don cherished the outdoors, especially time spent with his wife, daughters, family and friends boating and fishing at Lake Pelican and Lake Lida. Don and Colleen's beloved dog, Chloe was a constant source of joy and companionship in his life.
Donald Charles Hoefert is survived by his wife, Colleen Hoefert; his daughters Elizabeth (Michael) Snyder of Watertown, Kristin Hoefert-Redlinger of Sioux Falls, Kylie (Jason) Steen of Clark and Krista (Ted) Drury of Tea and Damion Wright of Sioux Falls; 15 grandchildren; and his sister, Dorothy (Bob) Lumsden.
He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother Margaret and brother John Hoefert.
