LeeAnn Maag passed away at the age of 71 on Wednesday, July 2, 2025 in Sioux Falls, S.D.
Funeral mass will be 10:30 A.M., Wednesday, July 9, 2025 at Blessed Sacrament Church in Florence.
Visitation will be from 4:00-7:00 P.M., Tuesday, July 8, with a Nightingale Tribute prior to the rosary at 7:00 P.M. at Wight & Comes Funeral Chapel in Watertown.
Interment will be at Esterly Cemetery in Watertown.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers memorials and they will send to LeeAnn's charities.
LeeAnn was born, the baby of the family, on June 9, 1954 to Edward and Barbara (Bohls) Mack. She attended Holy Rosary in Kranzburg through eighth grade, then went to Waverly High School and graduated in 1972. She furthered her education at St. John's University in Huron, S.D. and graduated as a registered nurse.
After graduating from St. John's, LeeAnn returned home and began her career at Memorial Hospital, working the afternoon shift. After work one evening, LeeAnn and some friends went to the Guest House. This is where LeeAnn laid eyes on "the most handsome man". This was the beginning of a legacy and an example of true love. Steve Maag and LeeAnn were engaged on Christmas Eve in 1977. Steve surprised LeeAnn with a ring at her parents' home. They were united in marriage on October 14, 1978 at Hoy Rosary in Kranzburg. In 1981, they added a daughter, Ann Barbara, and a son in 1985, Scott Michael. Steve and LeeAnn celebrated 46 years together this past October.
In 1989, LeeAnn's nursing career shifted. LeeAnn joined her sister Delrita in the Prairies Lakes Home Health/Hospice Department. The next three decades were spent caring for patients and patients' families. LeeAnn touched so many lives with her faith, compassion and singing. She loved to comfort everyone with her beautiful singing voice.
In 2006, LeeAnn's grandmother journey began. Being a grandma brought her the most joy she had ever experienced. She loved attending every ballgame and dance recital. She loved watching softball and took great pride in all her grandchildren's abilities.
When she wasn't busy with the grandkids, she was baking! Her home always smelled of freshly baked bread and goodies!
LeeAnn was an example of faith and selflessness. Steve and LeeAnn began every day together with hours of prayer. The rosary was a daily routine. She was able to pray the rosary with Steve and her family in her final house. She prayed for each one of us. LeeAnn's faith and family brought her great joy. A joy that made her radiate and gave her a smile that could light up a room.
LeeAnn passed away, surrounded by family, on July 2 in Sioux Falls after suffering a complicated stroke.
Grateful for sharing her life is her husband, Steve; children Ann (James) Caulfield and Scott (Megan) Maag; grandchildren Madelyn Michael, Emma Ann, Alayna James and Collyns Lee Caulfield and Hunter Hugo and Hayden Marie Maag; siblings Melvin Mack, Elaine Lenards, Delrita (Howard) Hopper; and brother-in-law Don Bohls.
She is preceded in death by parents Ed and Barbara Mack, sister Marlene Bohls, niece Lyndsey Bohls and nephew Jimmy Lenards.
