The Town Board of Garden City met in special session on June 12, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at the Garden City Fire Hall Community Room. President Hansen brought the meeting to order with the following people present: Joyce Hansen, Jake Leibke, David Waples and Water/Sewer/Maint. Technician Alan Luckhurst.
AGENDA Motion by Hansen to adopt agenda and a second by Waples, all voting aye, motion carried.
Public Agenda None.
Public Comments None.
Main Street was discussed. Blading needs to be done asap. Liebke will contact Brent Forest to do this Monday. Motion by Leibke, second by Waples. All voted aye, motion carried.
Large holes by the county road were discussed. Possible use of crushed asphalt may be a better solution opposed to using gravel. Leibke will check this with Forest and report to the board.
Mowing—west and south of old fire hall was done by Luckhurst today. Clausen will be doing this going forward.
Discussion of small lot by old church. Waples is working with the attorney to purchase this property.
Leibke suggested town possibly selling/giving town owned portion to Waples. More discussion at next regular meeting.
EXECUTIVE SESSION Pursuant to SDCL 1-25-2: (3) for contract issues. Motion by Hansen, second by Waples, to enter into executive session at 7:10 p.m. All voting aye, motion carried. President Hansen declared out at 7:51 p.m.
Adjourn Motion by Hansen, second by Leibke to adjourn. All voted aye, motion carried.
Next regular meeting will be Monday, July 6, 2026 at 7:00 p.m. at the fire hall community center.
